1. In-Browser Local Processing
At PDFToMCQ, privacy is not an afterthought—it is our core architectural foundation. Unlike traditional web services that upload your document files to remote servers for processing, PDFToMCQ operates 100% client-side in your web browser.
When you select or drop a PDF file, text extraction and NLP rule-based question generation execute entirely inside your device's memory using browser Web Workers. No PDF files, text extracts, or generated questions are ever sent to any remote server or cloud database.
2. Local Storage & Persistence
Any question sets you save or test attempts you complete are stored locally on your device using IndexedDB and Session Storage. You maintain total control over your data:
- Stored data can be exported as a JSON backup at any time from the Question Bank dashboard.
- Clearing your browser cache or clicking "Delete Set" permanently removes the data from your device.
3. Cookies & Local Data Storage
We use essential first-party cookies and local browser storage (`cookie_consent`, `theme`, and IndexedDB) strictly to preserve your user preferences, dark mode choice, saved question banks, and exam analytics.
